ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Accessibility at NextRoles
We want everyone to be able to build a CV, check a job and prepare for interviews with NextRoles, whatever device, ability or assistive technology they use. This statement covers www.nextroles.org and the NextRoles dashboard and school workspace. It was last updated on 3 October 2026.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice that means we build pages with clear headings and landmarks, labelled form fields, keyboard-operable controls, visible focus, a skip link to the main content, sufficient colour contrast and text that can be resized. The site is written in UK English and each page declares its language.
Current status
We believe NextRoles is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. We test our own pages with a keyboard and with browser tools, and we fix problems as we find them. We have not yet had the site independently audited, so we do not claim full conformance. When an audit has been carried out we will publish its date and findings here.
Display options
Open the Accessibility button, at the bottom right of every page, to change how NextRoles looks and reads. These options are in addition to the settings built into your browser and device.
Reading and display
Increase text size, use high contrast, add text spacing, underline links or reduce motion. Display preferences are saved on this device when browser storage is available. You can reset them in the panel. Your device’s reduced-motion preference is also respected.
Translation and read aloud
Google Translate loads when you choose to apply a language. Automatic translations may contain mistakes.
Read aloud uses an on-device voice where available. You can listen to the page or a text selection, pause or stop. Form entries are excluded. This feature does not replace a screen reader.
Using a keyboard
Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between controls, Enter or Space to activate buttons, and Escape to close dialogs. The skip link takes you to the main content.
Known limitations
We know the following areas may not yet work as well as they should. We are working to improve them.
- Downloaded documents. CVs and cover letters you export as PDF are designed for employers and applicant tracking systems. They may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need another format, contact support.
- Automatic translation. Translated text is produced by Google and has not been checked by us.
- Speak-to-type. Where offered, dictation depends on your browser’s own speech service, which differs between browsers and may not be available on every device.
- Photos. Career photos are decorative. The role name and description next to each one carry the meaning, so screen readers skip the photo. Photos are credited to Pexels in the footer.
- Complex screens. Some dashboard and school workspace screens, such as reports and tables of results, have not been tested with every screen reader and browser combination.
Report a barrier
If something is difficult to use, or you need information in a different format, email support@nextroles.org or use our contact page. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, your browser and device, and any assistive technology you use. You do not need to share personal details.
We aim to reply within 5 working days. If we cannot fix the problem straight away, we will tell you what we can do instead and when we expect to put it right.
Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com. In Northern Ireland, you can contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
